Mateo Lope (Bogotá, 1978) holds a degree in Philosophy by the Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá. He began showing his work in 2003. His solo shows include: Undo List, The Drawing Center, New York, (2016); Constelaciones, Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín, Medellín (2014); Irregular Hexago, Colombian Art in Residence, Jerusalem Center for the Visual Arts, Jerusalem (2012), + 72-13, Singapore City, Singapore (2012); Deriva, MUSAC, Spain. He has participated in such group shows as: Sin Principio / Sin Final, Ignasi Aballí, Mateo López y Bernardo Ortiz, Museo de Arte de la Universidad Nacional, Bogotá (2017), Traces of Existence, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing (2016), A Trip from Here to There, MoMA, New York (2013), The Peripathetic School. Itinerant Drawing from Latin America, The Drawing Room, London (2011), 8th Mercosur Biennale, Porto Alegre, (2011), Há sempre um copo de mar para um homem navegar 29th São Paulo Biennale (2010), Moby Dick, CCA Wattis Institute, San Francisco (2009). In 2012 he participated in the programme “Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative”, under the mentorship of William Kentridge.
